Over winter break, Hippo went back home to Iowa. One night, snow began to fall.
Whoomph! A big gust of wind soon buried Hippo in a mountain of snow.
After tunneling out of the snowdrift, Hippo built an igloo to keep himself out of the weather.
Unfortunately, the igloo was too small.
To keep warm, Hippo went sledding instead.
Hippo liked sledding, but he began to wish he had a friend.
Hippo had a great idea--he could make a friend!
Hippo invited his new friend Snowhippo to go sledding. Snowhippo said yes.
Hippo and Snowhippo decided to have a race.
Hippo and Snowhippo were so busy having fun, they didn't notice Snowmonster approaching the crest of the hill.
Rawrrrr!!! Snowmonster came closer, and Hippo stumbled back in fear.
Snowmonster trailed after Hippo and Snowhippo. But Snowmonster was just looking for friends.
Suddenly, Hippo and Snowhippo realized that they could have another friend. They decided to let Snowmonster play too, and everyone had a fantastic time.
